Basic first aid can saves lives. Whilst there is no substitute for undertaking a First Aid course from a recognised training provider, you can gain some information via general fact sheets from relevant organisations.

First aid training and kits

First aid training is available from many organisations, including government, not for profit and private companies across Australia. Victorian organisations directly involved in emergency management which provide training are: Ambulance Victoria, St John Ambulance Australia, Life Saving Victoria, and Australian Red Cross. In addition, there are many other organisations, both not-for-profit and private companies that provide first aid training.

The National Training Information Service (NTIS) the official national register of information on Training Packages, Qualifications, Courses, Units of Competency and Registered Training Organisations (RTOs). The search page allows you to search for first aid courses and accredited providers of first aid training.

Many of these organisations also have first aid kits available for purchase.

First aid information

St John Ambulance Australia provides First Aid Quick Reference material with links to basic first aid information, including DRABAC, pages on specific first aid emergencies. You can also download a comprehensive guide to first aid and staying safe at home.
